Every Ford Fusion from 2010 to 2020, across 2 generations: what each year typically sells for (about $5,000 to $13,000), its crash rating, and whether it's a year to target or skip. The best bets are 2010–2012, 2015–2020. Look harder at or skip 2013–2014.

Worth knowing
- Skip 2013–2014. The 1.6-liter EcoBoost had overheating and fire recalls. Later years or the hybrid are safer choices.
- The 2.5-liter base engine is the simplest choice, and Energi models give up much of their trunk space to the battery.
The trim we'd park in our garage
Look for the SE: it adds alloy wheels, dual-zone climate and turbo engine options over the S. SYNC 3 with CarPlay arrived for 2017, and the hybrid is a smart pick.
On the test drive
On a hybrid, ask for a battery health check. Get a pre-purchase inspection and a vehicle history report before you buy.
Safety tech
- Automatic emergency braking: standard from 2019, optional from 2017.
- Adaptive cruise control: optional from 2013, never standard in this generation.
- Blind-spot monitoring: not standard in this generation, so check the listing.
