Worth knowing

  • 2013: owner complaints spike (580, mostly the electrical system).
  • Fuel economy is poor, and the internal water pump on the V6 can cause expensive engine damage.

The trim we'd park in our garage

Look for the SEL: it adds dual-zone automatic climate, SYNC and nicer wheels over the SE, while the Limited adds leather, heated seats and the available EcoBoost V6.

On the test drive

Ask whether the water pump has been replaced on the 3.5 V6, since its failure can ruin the engine. Get a pre-purchase inspection and a vehicle history report before you buy.

Safety tech

  • Automatic emergency braking: not offered in this generation.
  • Adaptive cruise control: optional from 2010, never standard in this generation.
  • Blind-spot monitoring: not standard in this generation, so check the listing.

Years with too few listings are estimated from nearby years. Crash ratings, recalls and owner complaint counts come from NHTSA public records.
